Adrienne Garai and Dr. Peter Gyulai, are a married couple, both of them entomologists. Adrienne educated as an engineer of plant protection, Peter as a secondary school teacher of biology-chemistry. Recently both of them are employed at the Plant Health and Soil Conservation Service; Adrienne deals with the affairs of management, Peter with the insecticide screens and registration. Additionally, Adrienne is specialized in the Orthoptera, Peter in the Noctuidae of the Palearctic Region. Researching their favourite insect group, they have carried out twelve expeditions to Asia together and an extra nine by Peter, accompanied by the Ronkay brothers, Prof. Zoltan Varga and the late Márton Hreblay. As a result of these expeditions, an excellent palearctic collection of Orthoptera and Noctuidae, several publications, 4 Orthoptera and more than 60 Noctuidae holotypes (which are donated to the Hungarian Nat. Hist. Museum Budapest) can be recognised. The faunistical, taxonomic and zoogeographical publications - beside the scientific results - are also useful for the nature conservation. Some of their studies established the outlining of some nature conservation area in Hungary and supported this type of work in Iran and Pakistan, as well. Peter is a member of the Hungarian Entomological Society and the committee of the Natura 2000 in Hungary.
